Among the six seasons of Bangladesh, winter is the one I like the most. It starts in late November and lasts till February. The season brings a refreshing change in nature and daily life. Although many people dislike the cold weather, I enjoy it for its unique charm, comfortable climate, and delicious seasonal foods.
One of the main reasons I love winter is its pleasant weather. The scorching
heat of summer disappears, and the air becomes cool and refreshing. The sky
remains clear, and the sun shines gently, making the days enjoyable. Unlike the
rainy season, there is no mud or waterlogging, which makes traveling easier.
The mornings are often misty, and seeing dew drops on the grass and flowers
gives me a sense of calmness and beauty.
Winter is also a season of joy and festivity. Many social and cultural
events take place during this time. In Bangladesh, winter brings the tradition
of cake festivals, where various delicious rice cakes like chitoy,
pati-shapta, and bhapa pitha are prepared. It is also the time
for picnics, fairs, and outdoor activities. Many people enjoy traveling to
different places, as the weather is perfect for sightseeing.
Another reason why I prefer winter is that it is the most comfortable
season. Unlike summer, there is no excessive sweating, and unlike the rainy
season, there is no dampness and heavy rainfall. People can wear stylish warm
clothes like sweaters, jackets, and shawls. The nights are cozy, and sleeping
under warm blankets feels heavenly. Students find it easier to study in winter
as the environment remains calm and quiet.
Additionally, winter is an ideal season for health and productivity. The
cool weather makes people more active and energetic. Fresh vegetables and
fruits like carrots, cabbages, oranges, and dates are abundantly available,
making winter a healthy season. People can work efficiently without feeling
exhausted, and farmers enjoy a good harvest during this time.
Despite all its beauty, winter has some drawbacks. The poor and homeless
people suffer due to the extreme cold. Many trees shed their leaves, making the
environment look dull. However, these minor inconveniences do not lessen my
love for this wonderful season.
